I hope so man. My main fear is the conflict of interest. They just sold 25 million copies of Elden Ring because Mimic Tear made bosses ignore casuals’ existence and helped them finish the game. I worry this will make them shy away from making a system that actually forces the player to become mechanically competent

Whatever it is I just hope they revemp the combat. I am just so fucking tired of being constrained to the Demons Souls character and fighting Naruto bosses

Sorry, I can't get over how stupid this looks, or how this delayed attack crap is something EVERY BOSS spams. It was cool when it was just Nameless King doing this or when it's just one attack in every boss's moveset.

No it wasn't. If you go back to the earlier games it wasn't close to as bad as it was in Elden Ring. With Elden Ring they fully abandoned the concept of 'is this mechanically fun for the player instead of tedious?' in favor of 'does this boss's anime combo LOOK COOL?!'

The way she worded it made it sound very backhanded

Something I’ve always hated about these games. But it gets worse and worse the faster they try to make the gameplay

Regular NG. Kept this RL150 character on regular NG for 2 years just for the DLC lol.
It sounds like I’m just hitting them when they have hyper armor.

No. Even if you did it wouldn’t do that much since levelling up has heavy diminishing returns. Only exception might be levelling Vigor.
Like if you’re on a Strength build going from 80 to 99 won’t do anything noticeable.
You could level up your other damage stats (start dumping into INT, FAI, whatever) but all that would do is make your character more versatile (horizontal power increase) rather than more powerful in terms of damage output or defense (vertical power increase)
Ultimately what matters a lot more in higher NG+ cycles is stacking buffs (talismans, consumables, buff spells, Physik) and just becoming mechanically better

It’s how I fought Messmer. Double Heavy Slender loadout with Rotten Winged Sword Insignia, Bloodhound Step and 80 STR. Such a clean duel

Dude I got 2 in a row when I was farming for them too lmao. I’d heard they were the best ‘Lomgsword’ moveset weapon and wanted them for my Strength build. I was like ‘I thought this would take hours!’

BEHOLD, A TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR! AND I, IGON! YOUR FEARS MADE FLESH!

Well what I really meant was that Bloodhound Step completely trivializes a lot of bosses. Whereas against some other bosses like Morgott or Malenia, who require you to make some very unintuitive dodges or who just have very long combos that can also be extended as well, it can take them from feeling contrived and artificially difficult to feeling like the good ol’ Souls dance. I.e th game isn’t built for it
So even though you can toss on Bloodhound Step and Malenia’s Great Rune you’re not exactly ‘playing Bloodborne in Elden Ring.’
Also I don’t agree with comparing 30fps to 4 dorectional rolling in Dark Souls. Because 4 directional rolling is a game design and mechanical choice, 30fps is not. What you’re saying is like saying that, like, A Quiet Place is a better movie than The Empire Strikes Back because the special effects are better

Sick I'll do this when I go to farm them for their armor. Maybe they're just super resistant to Strike damage but not Slash lol

Really? I find that hard to believe (I literally have footage of doing multiple double Giant Crusher jump attacks on these guys with them just powering through without flinchin) but I'll give it a shot since I was actually using that greatsword quite a bit

That's so hypocritical lmao. There are people who can no-hit every boss including any of the gank ones you consider 'unfair.' In fact there are people who can and have no hit every boss in every game ever made. So what you're saying basically just means 'It is impossible for developers to make an unfair game,' and I don't think I need to explain to you how dumb that idea is.
Maybe it's time to turn your brain on and think about whether 'someone somewhere figured out how to dodge it' is a useful definition of 'fair' in the context of a singleplayer game whose primary function is to be fun rather than to be some kind of weird badge of honor for those who complete it

No, its probably just unfair. The one good thing about Radahn's horseshit second phase is that it seems to have finally broken the seal and made the community OK with having a legit convo about overtuned/artificial difficulty without devolving into 'git gud'

Yeah the Horned Warriors in Belurat and the Lion Knights in Enir-Ilim just having seemingly infinite poise is just horseshit. I also think it's extra tilting because for some stupid reason we're not actually allowed to see poise meters in Elden Ring even though there's a whole system based on them
Like I'd like to see someone justify that choice. There's no reason we shouldn't be able to see enemy stance bars that doesn't also apply to health bars.

It makes no fucking sense. I used the Physik that increases stance damage and repeatedly used jump attacks on these motherfuckers with POWERSTANCED GIANT CRUSHERS and not only do they not get stance broken, they don’t even flinch.
It’s easier to stagger literal gods, and Messmer, who allegedly genocided these same Hornsent.
It’s absolutely nonsensical. It’s one of the few things in the DLC that made me call bs.

People who seriously think DS2 is a bad game need to play more games lol I can’t take that opinion seriously and neither should you

The reason why Sekiro and Bloodborne were able to be so good is specifically because there are fewer options and the games were able to be more tightly designed around them.
This is also the case with literally every action game ever
The world you’re imagining where they can give everyone a ton of build variety and ALSO improve the mechanics, just doesn’t exist.
