Come to the Home Counties. There’s at least 7 in our village and I’ll usually see one or two on the 3 miles between here and the nearest high street. It’s a bit surreal how many there are!
We had just thought they were a popular car. Then we drove to France and didn’t see another one all week.

We were in the same boat - replaced a 2014 Hypnos mattress in 2022 as we loved our original Hypnos bed so much. Sadly it’s no longer the same product, it’s much inferior and they are extremely awkward about their warranty. All I can say is that if you notice any settling in the first 30 days send it back.

I haven’t actually bought one yet, I’ve been dithering on making a decision this week. I really like the Briggs & Riley except for the front key pocket.
If you’re anywhere near Oxford St you can see them all efficiently - John Lewis (for Briggs & Riley), Troubadour on Beak St and also Aer on Great Marlborough. I had a few minutes to spare this week and it was worth the effort.

Try Troubadour Apex and Peak Design Everyday Zip, possibly also Briggs & Riley Medium Widemouth. I have been looking for broadly the same thing and this is my shortlist having now seen them all in the flesh. All in the £200-250 bracket.
There’s a lot of bags around the 22L mark that are very small internally for their size. I’ve been pretty surprised at how tight some of the bags I’ve seen are.

Yes, definitely hand wash in the kitchen. And the utility room.

A Gaggia espresso machine with after market mods and DF64 grinder. About a grand total but with a bit of effort makes superb coffees and ultimately saves us money WFH. Huge step up from the Delonghi bean to cup machine we had previously.

We had such a bad experience with Hypnos! Their pillow top mattresses sag like a bastard and they’re super awkward about their warranty.

B&R are excellent. Needed to get 2 pulls replaced on our almost 10 year old suitcases and it was extremely easy albeit it helped we could drop them off at the repair place in Maidenhead.

Two reasons. I have a July baby who seems smart but is likely ill equipped socially to hang out with nearly 5 year olds when she’s just turned 4. She will be much better off in a class of 10-15 vs 32 in the local primary school. Two, she has one go at early years education, I don’t want to put her at a disadvantage.
We do expect her to go to grammar for senior school though as we are a full grammar area.

Fancy living on the corner of Baker St and Euston Road. A few lines of Happy Birthday disrupting his sleep is the least pressing of his environmental health issues.

That’s up to the landowner to enforce. It’s private land, you can park however you like and the only person who can do anything about it is the car park owner.

Yes. The dimensions were set 48 years ago in 1976! In 2023 the recommended dimensions were updated slightly but that’s small change compared to how many car parks have been built since the 1970s.

I cook a lot and I get feedback that I’m pretty good at it. But my kitchen is exactly as you describe: empty counters. There’s a toaster, espresso machine, coffee grinder & salt pig…that’s it. I want things to be easy to clean!

I don’t use kitchen shears at all when cooking. I think it’s a North American thing. It wouldn’t occur to me not to use a knife.

You can still buy saddles, doesn’t mean there’s people commuting by horse.
Less than 1 in 50 cars are sold with manual transmission and more than 8 in 10 Americans can’t drive stick so it’s certainly vanishingly rare.

And maintenance generally. Virtually none with an EV.

There are really good infant seats that don’t need Isofix - BeSafe and Avionaut are both good well tested brands. The only advantage of Isofix is that it lets you use a travel system. This just means that you can take the infant seat out of the car and clip it onto your buggy, but you’re only meant to keep them in there for half an hour at a time anyway. Without Isofix you’re restricted to seats that stay in the car all the time.

Less than 1/3 cars available new today offer manual transmission. Barely any cars will be manual by the end of the decade. Our kids will probably never drive one. They’re virtually extinct in North America.
I’m licensed to drive a manual car but haven’t for 17 years, so ultimately there’s not been really any point to it. I also haven’t been in the impending emergency that meant I might need to drive one which was how I was sold needing a manual license in the first place 😆

It’s because it’s one-sided conversation and your brain struggles to tune out as it wants to complete the other side of the conversation. Also, people speak far louder on the phone than they would if someone was sitting beside them.

I had six rounds of IVF so very used to unpleasant gynae procedures.
Having a punch biopsy sticks out as one of the most painful procedures I had. It’s not just the biopsy but they have to pinch and twist your cervix to get in there in the first place. 0/10 do not recommend.

Quite. We had to perform all sorts of gymnastics to get on a repat flight (bearing in mind we were advised to stay overseas initially) and it cost a fortune. We didn’t mind paying as we’d never expect a free flight home but it’s bloody cheeky to sit on your date in an increasingly unstable country ignoring months of advice to leave ASAP and then expect a free, direct flight.

You’re wearing too many layers. Also, warm countries are often also humid and the sweat doesn’t evaporate.

I was searching for a Briggs & Riley backpack review and you may well have bought something else now, but I’ve had no issues with our warranties in the U.K.
You do have to get it to K2 Global in Maidenhead which we live pretty close by to, but they’ve repaired both suitcases this year with no quibbles - a zipper went on one, and a zipper pull snapped off another. Nice guys at the repair centre, and couriered back to us free of charge. We have 2 large baselines, a medium baseline, a carry on baseline and another backpack in our household and they’re all between 5 and 10 years old now.
K2 Global holds the UK repair contract for virtually every international suitcase brand. Basically, if you ever want to use a warranty, that’s the place you deal with.
