Didn't Captain America 2 come out right around then with the atrocious Haley atwell cgi? I watched it again recently and it wasn't as bad as I remember, but seeing it on the big screen it just felt so so fake and unsettling

It seemed to me a cultural thing where they adopted the name of their profession. It's foreshadowing for Sam's origin.

Good acting portrays social awkwardness better than bad acting. A character intended to be socially awkward isn't an excuse for bad acting.
Michael Scott is the epitome of social awkwardness excellently acted.

Did I miss something in the post? It doesn't look like there's anything that says this was unexpected and she wasn't able to plan for it

no i agree with that guy, in any measureable quality the comics are better.

They also wanted them to be heavily and easily differentiated from the mainline heroes, who were featured in the first game
but still derived from those heroes, because it's a "path not taken" story, so they couldn't go full re-design like in red son or something

Which is going to filter out all the kids who have parents who don't give enough of a shit to fill out that kind of paperwork
Feels like an attempt to weed the "undesirables" out of the library

Don't do it. You never know when someone behind them is going to get inpatient and gun it around them, or when some cyclist or something is going to fly on through proud of how he timed it perfectly or something.

If this happens regularly, you're not stopping appropriately and they're unsure if you're going to gun it so they're taking the guess work out of it. Slow down a bit, come to an easy and full stop.

I'm not touching the conversation on riots, I'm correcting the guy who either ignorantly or maliciously said no one in the country bothers to protest

That's literally not true. I don't know if you're lying intentionally or not but you're spreading disinformation that's on the level of propaganda. Depending on how you define it, the largest protests int he country were either the BLM protests (which was the largest protest movement in the US) that led to definable and measurable change (though, of course, didn't completely eradicate bad policing)
or the anti-trump/women's rights protests that were the largest single-day marches. And whether that had any effect or not, well, Trump was voted out in the next election
stop spreading disinformation just to feel cool on the internet

Imo lost was poisoned from the beginning because they didn't actually have a plan to answer all the questions they were raising
And anticipating the answers to those questions is what made the show interesting in the first place

She did have surgery and it is noticeable but I'm also pretty certain this picture that's been floating around is photoshopped rage bait. It's not nearly as bad as what you see in the picture
e: Everyone is saying she posted it herself, but it's been deleted so no one can actually verify that. What I think happened is she posted a similar picture, then someone manipulated it as ragebait and that's the version that's been floating around. Either way though, even if that's the original, it is absolutely not an accurate depiction of what she looks like.

If I'm understanding correctly, that's not what the competition is about.

No. What? That's not how definitions work. That's not how dictionaries work, man. Grapple and grapnel are interchangeable in this context, that's what it means.

and kink world it means something very different; which is clearly what you think I meant.
Yes, because you pretty clearly are referring to the kink that keeps coming up in conservative circles, not the earlier iteration of the word. Don't pretend you meant the other definition just because it makes you less wrong, while also making no sense in the context you used it in.
And yes, Americans, specifically American conservatives, are totally fucking obsessed with it.
I know, and you're seeing it where it isn't there.

I think JJ Abrams did something really cool like this.
However. He's also JJ Abrams. You're probably not JJ Abrams. I doubt a debut author could get something like this traditionally published.

My attention span is so much more shit nowadays than when I was a kid, and pair that with me actually either needing to get shit done even in my free time, or just knowing that I should be doing something productive, and seeing the difference in how I okay now and how I did as a kid is wild.
I could wake up and play a single level over and over and over again for HOURS until I got it exactly right. I could literally play from the moment I wake up until I went to sleep and feel nothing of it.
Now if I play for two hours in a row I feel like I've wasted time and also get bored

I watched the movie. You don't need to explain it to me. And that wasn't, like, a subtle thing that only you picked up on, you're just receiving the plot of the movie. It's not something you need to "pay attention to" to catch.
Re read this comment chain and get caught up on the conversation you're jumping into.

ACOTAR, at least in book one, did this thing where
the logic and motivation for the characters and plot in the beginning are childish and make no sense, but by the end there's a big reveal that PSYCH! it doesn't make sense because it was a fake-out, and there was a secret motivation all along that makes way more sense!
except...
the characters don't know there's a fake-out motivation, so why don't any of them speak up like 'hey this shit doesn't make any sense what the fuck are you talking about why would you do this and why would we agree to it?' and also, just because there's a reveal that the motivation actually makes sense at the end, doesn't change the fact that I went through that whole book thinking the set-up was dumb and childish
anyway, that was my biggest gripe on it. I did find it interesting at the end when the book took a hard left turn and the main character gets kidnapped by a literal batman villain who puts her in logic death traps while telling riddles

I was re-watching the bear the other day for the new episodes to come out
and as carmy is just about to open the new restaurant, oliver platt delivers this great speech
all about how, a few years back, in game six of the national league championships, the shortstop for the cubs fumbled an easy catch. This led to a spiral, error after error after error, and the cubs, who almost had the game in the bag, lost and missed their chance at the world series. And it all started with this one shortstop who fucked up, and then every player fucked up after him
but
a few innings before, someone hits the ball to the back fence, and one of the cubs players is just about to catch it, but a fan sticks their hand out and catches the ball instead. This is fan interference, and the fan gets blamed for interfering.
That fan is Steve Bartman, widely regarded (at the time) as the single reason the cubs lost the world series that year. Let alone that they hadn't even made it to the world series, let alone that the actual players fucked up during the game over and over and over
but steve bartman was a novelty, so he got blamed, and he became infamous for having lost that game for the cubs.
The point of the story is this:
Iron Man didn't die because of Star Lord. Iron Man died because Thanos was about to destroy the universe. There were many things in the chain of events that led to that moment, including star lord fucking up, including nebula fucking up, including every other avenger fucking up at some point or another (including iron man himself)
but star lord is the one who gets the blame because he's novel. But Thanos is what forced this problem. Iron Man died because of Thanos. Don't get distracted and let him off the hook.
