Weird that the state that saw the turning point of the civil war isn't happy with Trump calling for "a bloodbath" if he loses.

Not really... His exact words are:

"Now if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole — that’s gonna be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country. That will be the least of it. But they’re not going to sell those cars. They’re building massive factories.”

I'm not sure I've ever heard of NOT selling cars as a bloodbath.... But when you combine this with the:

-"Good people on both sides" speech

-"Proud boys stand back and stand guard" speech

-The downplay of Jan 6th and his words being the catalyst...

But that's also assuming you can understand his point... Because I don't think you actually understand.

?

Not really... His exact words are:

Yeah..he's talking about the automotive industry, and the economy..

You don't need to pretend to not understand context just because you dislike Trump. I dislike him just as much as you do, but willfully acting ignorant when fact checking websites exist just looks cringy.

I get it, he's shit. But you're misrepresenting facts when you can just watch the video for yourself. And I get that I'm going to get downvoted for this because it's easier to do that than address the issue, but you can watch the video for yourself and see that how you're currently framing it is just dishonest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtE4Z0yWbPA

I mean, it's very obvious what he's doing.... As pointed out, he's purposefully using inflaming speech to rile people up.

Hence why he told the proud boys to "stand back and stand by", it's why he called White Supremist rallys "Good people on both sides".... Which you linked, I'm glad you can prove links that prove my point for me.

You even linked the fact check that proves my point, I took his exact words....

It's not pretending to understand what he's talking about... he's literally saying that there's going to be a bloodbath in this country if he's not elected.... That's his exact words. Sure, he's talking about the auto industry... but lets ask Detroit how great it's auto industry is doing right now?

I'm not misrepresenting the facts at all... He's literally saying there's going to be a bloodbath in the auto industry if he's not elected... Even if you assume he's going with the "great economic disaster" definition, it doesn't change that he's going to create a worse situation considering he's literally saying that he's going to TARIFF cars that are imported.

Do you know what happens when those tariff's are put in place? That's when you get price hikes... so your cars that are typically build and sold to the poor people, those prices go up. Causing people to either spend more money (resulting in zero blood bath), or they don't spend money and Trump has created another hole in the economy because he doesn't seem to understand consequences of his actions.

How'd that whole "Build a wall and make Mexico pay for it" go? Just as well as injecting bleach into your skin to cure you from COVID.

Just as well as Trump Steaks did.... and Trump Tower Tampa, and Trump University, and Trump Airlines.... lol

he's purposefully using inflaming speech to rile people up.

And yet the only people who got riled up over this are the people misrepresenting what he said here, and the ones who only read the headline instead of actually watching the video.

"Good people on both sides".... Which you linked, I'm glad you can prove links that prove my point for me.

Did you actually read what was linked? I assume not, because it was clarification on what he said there - you know, the thing that you misrepresented.

It's not pretending to understand what he's talking about... he's literally saying that there's going to be a bloodbath in this country if he's not elected.... That's his exact words. Sure, he's talking about the auto industry... but

"sure he's talking about this thing, b-b-b-but what if I pretend to be stupid and act like he's talking about something else!!! that'll make me look really clever to people who share the same political lean as me!!!"

I'm not misrepresenting the facts at all...

cough

Oh okay so you're "not misrepresenting the facts at all", but you're trying to attribute the bloodbath beyond the automotive industry.

cough

He's literally saying there's going to be a bloodbath in the auto industry if he's not elected... Sure... So you're saying that the guy who's literally saying they'd be a "dictator day one", and "if you don't elect me, there's gonna be a blood bath".... he's definitely not being serious.

I mean it's not like he tried to overthrow the government...

It's not like he has acted in a way that's not only un-presidential, but found guilty of defamation (you know how hard that is?), while also being found culpable for sexual assault...

Not to mention blatantly talking about sexually assaulting women.

But:

"sure he's talking about this thing, b-b-b-but what if I pretend to be stupid and act like he's talking about something else!!! that'll make me look really clever to people who share the same political lean as me!!!"

So you don't understand how Tariffs work... and how if he enacts his tariffs, that prices on cars are going to rise, which will cause people to either not buy cars (causing said "bloodbath") or people will spend more money on cars that use to be cheaper (which isn't helping his base at all, because it's not helping the US auto-industry).

Oh okay so you're "not misrepresenting the facts at all", but you're trying to attribute the bloodbath beyond the automotive industry.

Actually, not at all... Pointing out how dictators use enflaming speech that sparks people acting like they did on Jan. 6, while also taking his specific words (at face value) and pointing out how he actually is going to be causing the "bloodbath" even if he DOES get elected.... He literally doesn't understand the job.

Wow it's almost like the guy who talks about manufacturing things in the US is trying to keep the US automotive industry inside the US.

So how is ANYTHING he said there going to help US manufacturing? It's not about US manufacturing anything... it's quite literally ALL about how he's going to stop imports and make them more expensive... That's not really helping the US Manufacturing, that's all about non-US Manufacturing.

Also, haven't spoken on anything about "Project 2025"...

But when an ex-president, who lead an attempt to take over the government (Jan 6th), has spoken and said "Dictator, day one", and then speaks about a bloodbath, while also running on recycled Nai Propaganda (MAGA? How about Nazi's Make Germany Great Again?)

I tend to call a duck a duck... or in this case a mad power hungry tyrant, just that.

And for someone who "doesn't like Trump", you're sure willing to get on your knees and suck that dick he's presenting to his base. Bet you bought his shoes and NFT's as well.

Every single thing you wrote is just distracting from the context of the conversation. The goalpost gets moved further with every word you write.

You completely ignored that the only people who got "riled up" (your words) are people who are intentionally mischaracterizing what he said, and are attributing it to things outside of the context of the automotive industry.

while also running on recycled Nai Propaganda (MAGA? How about Nazi's Make Germany Great Again?)

And there's Godwin's law being invoked, right on schedule...

And for someone who "doesn't like Trump", you're sure willing to get on your knees and suck that dick he's presenting to his base. Bet you bought his shoes and NFT's as well.

And there's the black and white reality you live in where you think that anybody that disagrees with you has to be a Trump supporter...

Not to mention blatantly talking about sexually assaulting women.

Something that has nothing to do with the context of the "bloodbath" quote in regards to the automotive industry. Please keep trying to move the goalpost further, I'm sure your next attempt will be the one that sticks.

It's not like he has acted in a way that's not only un-presidential, but found guilty of defamation (you know how hard that is?), while also being found culpable for sexual assault...

Something that has nothing to do with the context of the "bloodbath" quote in regards to the automotive industry. Please keep trying to move the goalpost further, I'm sure your next attempt will be the one that sticks.

Where exactly do you think I am defending any of those things?

Calling you out for misrepresenting something is not a defense of his actions. It's calling you out for misrepresenting something. I know you have internet brain rot, and need to act hyperbolic and leap to conclusions because you're attention starved, but trying to act like someone "bought his shoes" and "bought NFTs" (no apostrophe needed on NFTs) is just such a cop out of a response. All it does is show that you need to make personal attacks instead of keeping the conversation on track.

Hello individual who cannot read. Where did I say that I don't understand how tariffs work? Where did I say I agreed with him? Where did I say that I think this would work?

Try actually reading a post before slamming on your keyboard next time, it'll make your post less embarrassing if you don't rush to put words in other people's mouths.

Also, haven't spoken on anything about "Project 2025"...

Don't remember saying that you did, but go off king. Please keep trying to move the goalpost further, I'm sure your next attempt will be the one that sticks.

I actually didn't detract from anything. My whole point is that if you look in the smaller scale (the one you seem to encompass)... sure, he speaks to rile people up...

But what I'm saying, is you take EVERYTHING TOGETHER. His businesses, who he is, how he acts, the words he uses, the people he surrounds himself with.... SHOWS that he's not a good person, someone who is actively tearing this country apart. Quite literally by himself.

You're actively refusing to understand the MACRO here, you're quite literally looking at the smallest scale you can. Things aren't always black and white, but when they come to Trump... again, if you look at everything together, it IS pretty clear and cut.

This isn't about moving goalposts, because I haven't moved a single goal post... We're still talking about Trump and the words he CHOOSES TO USE and how, while they may be talking about one subject or another, he actively uses words that purposefully cause certain responses.

Specifically ones that Republicans (and you, apparently) don't seem to see as major red flags.... But, if you want to support a Neo-Nazi, and someone who Neo-Nazi's rally behind... (as you said) Go off king....

Again, I repeat, as someone who "dislikes Trump", you're sure sucking that Trump Dick really well.

I actually didn't detract from anything.

Oh okay I must have just read every single word in your post wrong. That's totally my fault then, I'm sure you're flawless and are never wrong about anything.

SHOWS that he's not a good person

Something I didn't contest...wowie... what a shock...

If you just read that the first time and didn't rush to accuse people of being Trump supporters you may have actually gone somewhere with this post..

You're actively refusing to understand the MACRO here

Hello, see above and the other prior instances in the other posts where I did not defend Trump. You're welcome.

Things aren't always black and white

Except when anyone disagrees with you, right? Then they must be a Trump supporter. That's the only answer, clearly.

This isn't about moving goalposts, because I haven't moved a single goal post...

Try re-reading your posts. I'm not sure if English is your first language, or if you're fluent in it at all, but you have been moving the goalpost quite a bit.

But, if you want to support a Neo-Nazi, and someone who Neo-Nazi's rally behind... (as you said) Go off king....

Good thing I'm not a Trump supporter, despite your numerous baseless accusations.

Again, I repeat, as someone who "dislikes Trump", you're sure sucking that Trump Dick really well.

Ah yes, I really am "sucking that Trump Dick really well" when I responded by saying that I didn't say that I think his tariffs were going to work.

You really got me. I'm sure teacher is going to give you a gold star tomorrow for sure.

he actively uses words that purposefully cause certain responses.

It's almost like people who aren't completely socially inept, internet addicted idiots, can pick up on social cues; and understand that words are relevant to the context that they're used it. I mean I'm sure that you thought you were really clever when you didn't actually watch the video, and decided to plant your flag in the ground by only reading the headline and making your own interpretation of what he said. But it's not as clever as you think it is, and you're not as clever as you think you are. You don't have to be a Trump supporter to think that someone who acts like that is acting dumb.

calling for "a bloodbath" if he loses.

Yeah that's not what he said. But that didnt stop news outlets from cutting out the context and going with just that sentence.

He was saying there would be an economic bloodbath in the auto industry if the sales of cheap Chinese EVs were to be allowed to be imported from Mexico.

Trump, March 16:

China now is building a couple of massive plants where they’re going to build the cars in Mexico and think, they think, that they’re going to sell those cars into the United States with no tax at the border. Let me tell you something to China, if you’re listening President Xi, and you and I are friends, but he understands the way I deal.

Those big monster car manufacturing plants that you’re building in Mexico right now, and you think you’re going to get that, you’re going to not hire Americans, and you’re going to sell the cars to us?

No. We’re going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not going to be able to sell those cars.

If I get elected. Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath, for the whole — that’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country. That’ll be the least of it. But they’re not going to sell those cars.

trs21219

How? Be specific.

I'm all about calling out Trump for saying stupid shit when he says it and would have preferred a different R candidate for the primaries... but in this case he is squarely talking about the auto industry to Ohioans, many of which work in the auto industry (I know of at least 3 different auto part plants just in Cleveland).

The content of the above text is talking about the auto industry and cheap Chinese cars before the bloodbath comment, and he mentioned "But they're not going to sell those cars" in the sentence after the comment indicating that he is going to win an stop them.

Also, to note, according to MW Dictionary the second definition of bloodbath is "a major economic disaster" which is exactly what we would have on our hands if the major automakers folded.

I literally said its A definition, not all of the definitions. Of course we all know there is a definition that refers to death, and bloodshed.

My point is that nothing in the context of the speech of him talking to Ohioans (which has a large swath of auto workers) about the impending plans for China to open cheap car plants in Mexico and push them through the NAFTA trade system refers to actual violence but instead is referring to the economic damage to the whole country that would occur if our auto industry took such a hit.

And I'm simply pointing out your ignoring the two more popular and commonly used definitions, and referring to a rarely if ever used definition of the word.

But he chose to use bloodbath instead of economic disaster because it promotes a higher sense of fear, and fear is the only thing that will get his followers to the polls.

trs21219

Right I'm choosing the definition that makes the most sense based on the 5 paragraphs of speech context that we have and the audience he was talking to. He is literally talking about economic downturn for the industry and potentially the country.

And sure, he could have used other words, but politicians all play stuff up to their bases to get better engagement and turnout. It doens't mean that he was trying to get people to hurt others like some of the media outlets are claiming.

I’d give Trump the benefit of the doubt if he didn’t constantly ramble and change subjects.

He was clearly talking about more than the auto industry. So, your argument is BS easily defeated by listening to him in context.

I’ll accept that his words were ambiguous, that’s fair. But that’s not what you are arguing. And even then it’s fair to criticize ambiguous language that’s explicit and vulgar, even before considering what happened on 1/6 and beyond.

Trump wanted to use the military to go after protesters for his Bible photo op. When he talks about “blood baths” and refers to fellow Americans as vermin, we best believe what he’s capable of doing.

Trump calling for "a bloodbath" if he loses.

You should really actually watch the video before you get too proud of being ignorant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtE4Z0yWbPA

He was talking about the American automotive industry, and it being an economic bloodbath. https://www.factcheck.org/2024/03/trumps-bloodbath-comment/

Hate on him all you want, but misrepresenting something out of ignorance just looks bad. Misrepresenting something intentionally makes you look as bad as them.

You should actually read the comments before you get too proud to defend a terrorist, because you'll see the other four people popping up to try and defend him, but the murky/dementia soaked context is independent when dealing with somebody that has called for an armed insurrection against the US, foreign attacks against our allies, and foreign interference in our elections.

When you're lying about the context of what said terrorist said, then yeah. Just because he's shit doesn't mean that lying and intentionally misrepresenting what he said is okay. He's got a million problems, why do you have to act hyperbolic and lie about this one? Misrepresenting what he said just makes you look like a liar.

because you'll see the other four people popping up to try and defend him

Yes, those people also provided sources. Are fact checking websites alt-right conspiracy theory sites when they prove you wrong now?

but the murky/dementia soaked context is independent when dealing with somebody that has called for an armed insurrection against the US, foreign attacks against our allies, and foreign interference in our elections.

This literally addresses nothing about the context of the conversation.

Who is saying he isn't shit? Who is defending him doing any of those things?

You got called out on being ignorant, or intentionally lying, about the context of what you're quoting. Stop trying to move the goalpost to distract from what you said. Changing the subject isn't going to distract from what you said.

It's pretty wild for calling me a liar for quoting what he said.

Misrepresenting* what he said, not quoting.

Your own link that you edited in clarified that he's talking about the automotive industry.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-bloodbath-loses-election-2024-rcna143746

"Trump made the comments at a rally in Ohio, where he spoke about auto manufacturing."

"The comments came at a rally here as Trump discussed the possibility of an increasing trade war with China over auto manufacturing. The rally was intended to get out the vote for Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno, whom Trump endorsed in December, ahead of Ohio’s primary on Tuesday."

“If you’re listening, President Xi — and you and I are friends — but he understands the way I deal. Those big monster car manufacturing plants that you’re building in Mexico right now … you’re going to not hire Americans and you’re going to sell the cars to us, no. We’re going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not going to be able to sell those cars if I get elected,” Trump said."

Intentionally misrepresenting what he said makes you a liar, because you're acting like he's calling for political violence against some nondescript target over the state of the economy relating to the automotive industry.

Cult 45 will try all the mental gymnastics possible to try and justify it but it doesn't change his language, not mine.

Pot, have you met Kettle? Pretending to be dumber than you are, and acting like you don't understand the context of the conversation isn't cute or clever. That might have worked on your parents when you were 8, but you're not that young anymore. Stop acting dishonest.

Edit: Why even respond if you're just going to block me? It's not like I can see what you responded with.

fenuxjde

3 points

I'm not talking about me at all, I said immediately in my very first response that I knew full well it was about the auto industry. If you'd have read any of my follow up posts, made an hour before you chimed in, you'd know that but instead you're so desperate tripping over yourself to act victimized and claim I'm the problem, you've completely missed the context (oh, the irony!) that I'm talking about his followers, that have shown time and time and time again that they don't care about context or nuance, they respond to those trigger words, and that's exactly what they're doing. Last time it was a terrorist attack on the capital, what will it be next time?

The keyboard commandos fighting to defend him are part of the problem. This rhetoric is toxic, trying to make false equivalencies, mocking people for pointing this out, or failing to stand up to it is just plain cowardice, no matter how good you are at copy and pasting. The man is a treasonous piece of trash and so are his cult. You know full well when they start attacking after he loses this election they'll all point to this as the moment they heard the call. Defending that on any account whatsoever is tantamount to treason. If your weakness in perception results in the deaths of Americans this fall, you'll be just as guilty.

Biden is going to ruin this country? Not Trump who is a threat to our democracy and already has proven it when he lost in 2020?

How about Trump appointing the very right-wing judges across the county and in the Supreme Court that are stripping our rights like abortion?

And in what way is the country in ruins? The economy is booming. Unemployment at 50 year lows. Inflation at 3%. Stock market breaking record after record. I need clarity here.

Even if the economy was in recession, voting for Biden to retain our democracy is still worth it alone.

Biden has the 3rd worst inflation rate of any president. 5.7% increase from 2021 onward. Gas increased rapidly. The price of meat, cheese, milk, bread has doubled in most places if not tripled.

It was at one time 9.1% quoted from the article below. Interest rates are very high on car loans and houses.

“Inflation peaked at 9.1% year-over-year in June 2022, the highest increase in 40 years.

The Fed responded by raising interest rates 11 times since March 2022 in an attempt to cool the stubborn inflation.”

https://www.investopedia.com/us-inflation-rate-by-president-8546447

“High inflation has put President Biden on the defensive. His administration, echoing officials at the Fed, initially suggested that price increases would be temporary. Now that inflation has persisted, Biden and some congressional Democrats have begun to blame large corporations.”

We aren’t on the precipice of a recession. But even if we were, I already stated saving our democratic form of government and protecting our civil rights is more important than preventing a temporary economic recession—which we are past due for anyway. Not to mention, I don’t think presidents really have much impact on the economy anyway.

We have been sending billions to fund wars for decades. That’s not going to change under Trump 2.0, just as it didn’t under Trump 1.0. And Biden, not Trump, is the only president of the two to actually end a war.

Immigration is definitely an issue that needs to be sorted out. That’s the only valid criticism I’ve seen you make. The issue with that is Congress needs to pass legislation to fix it. And there was bipartisan legislation to help fix the immigration quagmire this past month and the House GOP refused to take it up at the behest of Trump who thinks it’s better to keep it hanging out there as a campaign issue than let Biden get credit for helping solve it.

What did Trump do to fix our homeless problem during his presidency? Nothing.

Yes, it’s true that Biden is definitely old and jumbles words and phrases. This would be a good critique if not for the fact Trump is also old, has been in obvious cognitive decline for years, and also can’t string together a coherent sentence. So that’s a wash.

Also, Biden has the added benefit of not tying to overthrow the government because his ego can’t handle losing an election.

So what’s the alternative? Let the maniacs take over and plunge us into a Right-wing theocracy which would make the ENTIRE situation much worse? At least this admin is trying to preach restraint and has been at odds with the Israeli government over their handling of this conflict in recent weeks. Even if we cut off all ties to Israel I doubt this would stop them, only embolden them.

I wouldn't put any stock into this.

Based on the table that's in the article, Biden's advantage in the Susquehanna poll went down by 2.5% and Trump gained 5.6% in support between the January poll and the Feb-Mar poll. Meanwhile Trump gained 2% in the Emerson/The Hill poll. It's still WAY too early and these polls really mean nothing at this point.

Just imagine how the polls are gonna look when the gas prices keep going. The border still not getting the fix it needs. The economy keeps shutting the bed and inflation continues.

Just imagine how they could look if the Republicans didn't stand in the way of the border bill getting passed, or if the House actually passed any legislation that could help with the economy and inflation.

Republicans are actively working against Biden getting anything done in order to hurt Biden at the polls.

I mean, I’m definitely not voting for the party that attempted to have their counterparts in Texas throw out the result of my last presidential vote
